Why is it that we always seem to get the best weather in April and September at the moment? It’s great having some sunshine before the winter properly starts, but I wish it could have started a bit earlier this time. I don’t want much, just a month of sunshine in the summer would be enough!
It’s definitely getting to the point where we all need to go away for a month in November or January to get some sunshine. I know that I really feel like I need to get away from the wind and the cold, so I might try and book a long holiday this winter if I can scrape together the money to afford it!
Apparently it’s been the coldest summer on record for the last 18 years, which I can definitely believe. People don’t seem to talk about it as much anymore, probably because they are used to it happening, but we really are having terrible summers.
I read an article that all of our native butterflies are in decline because of the cold summers we’ve been having. I really hope next year is much better, but I’m not going to get my hopes up! At least there didn’t seem to be many weather people predicting that we were going to have a barbeque summer this time or even a drought, that gets a bit embarrassing after the fourth solid week of rain.
The cricket really suffers too – no one wants to go and watch cricket if they know it’ll probably rain for half the time. Especially with the prices of some of the games these days.
