Moving Business Premises – Getting Started

There are many different reasons why people choose or are pushed into moving from their current business premises to somewhere else, below are just a few of the reasons that this might be necessary:

  • The lease has run out on your current premises and the landlord does not want to renew it – alternatively you might not want a renewal for various reasons.
  • Your business is expanding and you need more room
  • You have been offered better premises in a central location

There are probably plenty of other things you could add to the list but these tend to be the more usual ones. As soon as you and your staff have got an idea of the date you’ll be going to alternative premises you can begin preparations. It’s a good idea to contact whichever one of the online packaging companies you use to order plenty of cardboard boxes and other packaging supplies. Just as people are amazed at what they have accumulated when have to move house, so business owners and employees will be amazed at what needs packing away.

Once the packaging supplies have arrived your employees can start packing up files and documents – so much for the paperless office the gurus promised us. When you are moving business premises, just as when you move house, it’s a good idea to make sure that all the boxes are labelled to say what they contain. If you get a good removal company and you know the layout of the new premises, it’s also worth jotting down where you want the boxes to go.

You will need some heavy duty packaging materials for your equipment, e.g. computers, printers and photocopier. If the office furnishings belong to the landlord you don’t have to worry but if they belong to your company they will have to be moved along with everything else. Providing you make sure that you order sufficient packaging supplies from one of the most reliable packaging companies, you should be able to move business premises without too much trouble.
